Spin up the rig after midnight, aim the antennas, and let the city talk. Below is a working demo tuner (noise and spectrum) so the box actually does something. Swap in your real SDR URL any time.
Clear night, smooth handoffs. New mic hiss on Approach?
QFH + LNA behaving. Clouds over Gulf pop nicely.
Intermittent keying, short bursts. Need to triangulate.
After midnight the neighborhood forgets itself. The bands open like alley doors and the Night Web hums: aircraft vectors, NOAA ghosts, and the odd beacon that doesn’t swear it’s weather. I log what drifts through and chase what doesn’t want to be found.
Method: small-hours scanning on VHF/UHF and 137 MHz, quick notes, and the occasional long decode when something bites. If the spider moves, it goes in the Field Journal. If the signal moves, I follow.
